Trip to Mercedes

Last week, after spending the night at -5°C, I waited for the temperature to rise before heading to Mercedes Airport for breakfast.

Here's a list of what I packed:

8-liter fuel tank

Tools

GoPro pole

GoPro on the wing and in the cockpit

Coffee, sugar, mug, spoon, nuts, banana, mate gourd, yerba mate, and a thermos of hot water

Folding chair

All of this in a single bag, without any handles or straps, just secured to the passenger seat.

That's how the flight went

And here are the pictures.

Trip to Navarro

With the idea of continuing my travel adventures, two weeks ago I went to the Navarro airfield.

It's located 40 km away. The flight was very smooth, even though I returned at midday. Upon arrival, I made myself a coffee and some fruit and enjoyed the experience of these air trips.

That was the trip

and these are the pictures.

Trip to Chivilcoy

We resumed the trike adventures.

With a northwest wind, I took off towards Chivilcoy Airport.

I wanted to test the fixed-gear gloves I made, an 8-liter fuel tank, and some coffee-making equipment.

I need to correct a few details on the gloves, but they worked very well.

I carried everything in a bag without handles, securely tied to the passenger seat. I had a coffee with a banana and filled up with the 8 liters of fuel I had brought.

The trip there took 40 minutes and back 30.

Cruising speed: 40 knots, 5000 rpm, 3000 feet.

Here are the pictures.

Joaquin is back in the air!

Joaquin is back in the air!

After two years, I flew with Joaquin again. We enjoyed an afternoon flight and watched the sunrise from the air the next day.

Here are the pictures.

Visiting the Clouds

The forecast for this weekend is calm with a layer of clouds.

Sunrise is at 7:52, but the humidity and 4°C temperature created a fog that prevented me from taking off until 11:00.

The clouds were coming from the east, and the flight plan was to go and take some pictures.

I found them at 1000m, and that's how the flight went.

Combining Trike and Ultralight

On Fridays, I leave work, stop by home, grab a few things, my mate (a traditional South American infused drink), and head to Suipacha Airport to try and get some air flying.

In winter, with the shorter days, I can fly for 15 minutes if the runway is in good condition.

This guarantees me two sunrises and three sunsets.

Each aircraft handles differently, and that's what I love about it.

Here I share my flights in a trike and an ultralight. If the air is choppy or the wind is strong and crosswind, I prefer the ultralight.

Bird watching

The weather forecast indicated north winds starting at 10:00 AM, so Juliana and I took advantage of it to go flying early, since the lower layers of the air were going to be calm until 10:00 AM, allowing us to land without problems.

I usually plan the flight with a headwind for about 30 minutes, and then return, without worrying about fuel. Therefore, we flew south for about 5 km, over the Las Saladas River, to a wetland that is home to a large number of birds.

Finally, we headed north, gaining altitude, to fly over Suipacha, and then began our return flight with a tailwind to the airstrip.

That's how the flight went.
